Courtney Wright, MBA

Director of the Business Communication Center


Courtney  is a Lecturer of Management and Corporate Communication and Director of the Business Communication Center. She also teaches in the Master of Accounting and MBA@UNC programs and regularly provides presentation skills coaching in the EMBA-Evening, EMBA-Weekend, and OneMBA progra​ms.
A double Alumna of UNC, Courtney graduated with a BA in Psychology.  After working in the legal field and software industry for several years, she returned to UNC to pursue her MBA, where she concentrated in Marketing and Sustainable Enterprise. She also holds a Certificate in Teaching English as a Second Language from Duke University.  Courtney is particularly interested in the areas of leadership and intercultural communication.


Emily Bernard



Emily Bernard

Emily is a second-year MBA student concentrating in Marketing. This summer, she completed a Brand Management internship at Bayer in their Consumer Division, working on the Flintstones brand team. Emily graduated from the University of Texas in 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. After graduation, Emily pursued a variety of public relations and marketing roles and most recently worked for an oil and gas private equity firm in Houston, TX. Emily holds several leadership positions at UNC Kenan-Flagler, including VP of Corporate Relations for the Marketing Club and VP of Fundraising for the Community Service Clubs. She is also an MBA Career Mentor to 1st-year Marketing students. In her free time, Emily enjoys road biking, cooking and taking improv classes.


Robert Edwards


Bo Edwards

Bo is a second-year MBA student concentrating in Healthcare and Marketing and is an active member of the Kenan-Flagler community as a Career Mentor. Bo attended the University of Virginia where he was pre-med and received a degree in Biology. Prior to business school, he worked for a management consulting firm in Washington, D.C., Water Street Partners, that specialized in joint ventures and partnerships. This summer, Bo worked at GlaxoSmithKline in digital marketing, developing multichannel marketing recommendations in anticipation for two product launches.​



Susan Hedglin

Susan is a second-year MBA student concentrating in corporate finance. This summer she interned with Eli Lilly & Company’s corporate treasury group. She serves as the MBA Student Association (MBASA) President, where she manages the leaders of student-led career, activity, and social clubs. Susan graduated with degrees in International Studies and Chinese Language from the University of Mississippi. Prior to business school, she worked in small business real estate lending at the Center for Community Self-Help in Durham, NC and in corporate responsibility programming at the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai.​


Gregory Lane

Greg is a second-year MBA student concentrating in Management Consulting and Healthcare. He graduated from Wheaton College (IL) with a degree in Economics. Prior to business school, Greg worked for five years at a public policy think tank in Washington, DC, before moving to North Carolina to work in the North Carolina General Assembly. Greg interned at UNC Health Care this past summer and currently serves as VP of Action-Based Learning for the Healthcare Club.​




Prerana Manvi

Prerana is a second-year MBA student at UNC Kenan-Flagler. She is pursuing a concentration in Management Consulting with an enrichment in Sustainable Enterprise, and recently completed the Retail Leadership Development Internship at Amazon. Prerana pursued, from BITS-Pilani (India), a dual degree of Masters in Economics and Bachelors in Chemical Engineering. After graduation, she worked at JPMorgan Chase before transitioning to the entrepreneurial domain. Prior to business school, she helped build a startup and worked as a Sustainability Consultant to help companies to manage their social and environmental performance. At UNC Kenan-Flagler, Prerana is actively involved with the community as President of Net impact Club, VP of International Experience for Consulting Club, and Leadership Associate for the Center for Sustainable Enterprise.​



Drew Matheson


Drew Matheson

Drew is a second-year MBA student and is an active member of the Kenan-Flagler community as a Career Mentor. He has an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania. Drew worked in public policy in Washington, D.C. where he focused on homeland security and congressional affairs. In 2010, he joined the U.S. Army, serving nearly 5 years as an Infantry Officer. This summer, Drew worked at McKinsey & Company in Atlanta, GA. Drew is also very involved with Veteran initiatives in the Raleigh-Durham area.

Shannelie is a second-year MBA student concentrating in Marketing. She recently completed a summer internship at Johnson & Johnson, where she created an eCommerce strategy for Johnson’s Baby. Prior to business school, she worked in public relations, developing social media strategies and content for a variety of health, CPG and non-profit clients. Shannelie has an undergraduate degree in Marketing and International Business from Georgetown University and hails from Puerto Rico. At KFBS, she stays active on campus as a Career Mentor and President of MBA Ambassadors.​



Kyle Pinheiro

Kyle Pinheiro is a second-year MBA student pursuing concentrations in both Corporate Finance and Healthcare. With a background in banking, Kyle sees his future as a leader in healthcare finance. Raised in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kyle earned a BS in Business from Miami University before moving to New York City to work for Barclays. He and his wife, Laura, moved to Carrboro in 2013 to pursue their graduate degrees, and are proud to be Tar Heels. Outside of school, Kyle enjoys spending his time running, trying new craft beers, and traveling with Laura.​



Evan Shields



Evan Shields

Evan is a second-year MBA student concentrating in Real Estate, Corporate Finance and Entrepreneurship. He recently completed a summer 2016 internship in Investment Banking as a Summer Associate with Sun Trust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta. Evan graduated in 2012 from the University of Virginia in 2012 with a degree in Political & Social Thought, where he wrote his undergraduate thesis on private equity investments in minority- and women-owned businesses. Prior to business school, he served as a 2012 Teach For America corps member in Atlanta, where he taught high school mathematics and worked as an education policy analyst for Atlanta Public Schools. In addition to his involvement with the BCC, Evan leads the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management at KFBS, is the VP of Corporate Relations for Alliance of Minority Business Students, and serves on the Alumni Advisory Board.

Tyler Smith


Tyler Smith

Tyler is a second-year MBA student concentrating in Marketing and Entrepreneurship. After earning his B.A. in Business Finance from Covenant College, he joined Chattem Inc. to pursue a career in CPG brand management. After three years at Chattem, Tyler decided to pursue an MBA at UNC Kenan-Flagler. This past summer, Tyler interned at Johnson & Johnson as a Brand Management Summer Associate where he worked on the Band-Aid brand. His goal is to continue a career in brand management in order to eventually move into a general management role down the road. Tyler holds several leadership positions at UNC Kenan-Flagler, including Executive VP for the Kenan-Flagler Marketing Club and VP of Communications for Christians at Kenan-Flagler​.




Melanee Swanson

Melanee is a second-year MBA student at UNC Kenan-Flagler who is currently studying Strategy and Consulting. She graduated in 2009 from Davidson College, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. During her time at Davidson, she spent most of her free hours playing for the soccer team. After graduation, she followed her love of sports and worked as a Corporate Ticket Sales Account Executive for the Charlotte Bobcats (now Charlotte Hornets). After two years of sports sales, she moved to a financial services firm, where she managed the client relationships for hedge funds and management consulting firms. Working alongside management consulting firms peaked her interest in Consulting as a career, and she headed to UNC in order to pursue that career path. At UNC, she is the President of the Consulting Club and a Kenan Institute Leadership Fellow. Melanee recently completed a summer internship with Deloitte Consulting in Charlotte, and she plans to return after graduation.​
